The genetic preset got its biggest upgrade since launch. It now cooperates with the true-shape NFP nester instead of competing with it: NFP layouts seed the population at full strength, the best genetic orderings get an NFP polish pass, and the optimizer stops early when it cannot beat the NFP floor, so you never wait on compute that cannot win.
Strategic packing, not just dense packing
Fitness now penalizes trapped voids, the unusable pockets that look fine in a utilization number but waste real material. The optimizer learns to leave usable, contiguous free space instead of confetti.
We also added hard guarantees: enabling rotation can never produce fewer placed parts than no rotation, and the genetic preset can never return a worse layout than the deterministic strategies it builds on.
